Czech Volvo Masters Amateur

Since the first sponsored competition Volvo Tour in 1988, Volvo has become a dominant force in world golf, participating in several prestigious professional competitive events in Europe, and since 1995 also in the Far East. Through this activity Volvo has gained the reputation and credibility of an organiser of amateur competitions in most of its markets worldwide - you may recall the event Volvo Pro-Captain Challenge, which took place successfully in the 1990s.

Now Volvo, within the field of its golf activities, is directing more towards its customers, with the strategy of concentrating all the worldwide Volvo amateur tournaments under one heading. The amateur competition, now known as the Volvo Masters Amateur, culminates in a new world final which takes place in connection with the prestigious competitive event Volvo Masters at the end of the season in Valderrama. The pilot project in 2003 proved to be successful, and in 2004 the amateur competition Volvo Masters Amateur covered 17 countries and involved more than 70 000 amateurs who took part in the qualification rounds, 62 of whom went through to the world final.

This year will be the fifth year, in which The Volvo Masters Amateur, a tournament for amateurs, will be organised in the Czech Republic.
