2008 Czech Final Mariánské Lázně

First Saturday of September and Mariánské Lázně, that can mean only one: the Volvo Masters Amateur Final. It could seem like a lack of invention to write again and again about the weather, but is it possible not to mention when it was so BEAUTIFUL? Volvo is evidently environmentally friendly and the nature can appreciate it.

The video-analysis of the swing lead by Jiří Kromichal was a part of the associated program as usually. At this moment we would usually write: "You will see Jiří no sooner than the next year." But it is not true this year because Jiří announced his return to the Czech Republic. Perhaps the beauties of our country lead him to this decision and not the ugliness of our swings. Anyway Jiří will be here and is ready for anyone of you. Ladies who accompanied their matches had the opportunity to visit the Mary Kay spot and consequently take part in the golf academy and putting contest provided with a fitting make-up. A groovy attraction was also the Segway riding - very cool activity. Two wheels, parallel one another in addition, and it is possible to hold the balance?! But there was much more hi-tech stuff to admire - for example The Robots. We managed to ensure two pieces of them. They are all-Czech made and besides basic movements and walking they can even dance! Even further, because both of them are upgraded they can test the humanoids´ conductivity and vibrations. Both samples tested that day passed. The contrast to the most advanced technologies made the performance of the string quartet. Did you hear also modern pieces among the dulcet tones? ABBA for example?

The quartet was according to the scenario followed by the award ceremony, and so…..the result of the final competition is: it will be LUKÁŠ BRAUN who will represent the Czech Republic in Spain!!! Lukáš won by 37 brutto stableford points. Totally he played 72 shots even with two bogeys and one triplebogey - and consequently he got to the even thanks to his five birdies! It was Greg Maruszewski, Chief Executive Officer of the Volvo Auto Czech company, who awarded Lukáš the main price, i.e. the certificate entitling its holder to the participation in the Volvo Masters Amateur World Final 2008. Photographer Jadran Šetlík whom it is not necessary to introduce then awarded the winner a voucher for making a portrait. We can thus suppose that the portrait of Lukáš will appear among other portraits of celebrities at next exhibition of the photos of Mr. Šetlík. Once more congratulations for you Lukáš and we will keep our fingers crossed for you. Renata Císlerová took the second place and Pavel Pilip, who was the first historical winner of the Volvo Masters Amateur in the Czech Republic in 2005, took the third place.

There was one more nice duty awaiting Greg afterwards - and it was to hand over a cheque with the sum which will help battered, abused, disabled, endangered and abandoned children. The players had the opportunity to buy orange arm bands during all VMA tournaments and thus support the Our Child Foundation ("Nadace Naše dítě"). The sum on the cheque which was taken up by the founder of the foundation Mrs. Zuzana Baudyšová was 21.600 CZK. Thank you all!

Let us continue in expressing thanks for a while yet. Thanks to all the players of this year´s tour for their participation, thanks to the partners for their support and thanks to the stuff of all the courses hosting this year´s volume for perfect services.

See you next year and have a nice play.

Yours Volvo Masters Amateur Team
